Medical Insurance Plans & Voluntary Offerings

Cigna Copay and Kaiser HMO

The Copay and HMO Plans have set copays for some services and a deductible and coinsurance for others. Copays do not apply toward your deductible, so you will pay copays until you reach your annual out-of-pocket maximum.

Cigna and Kaiser - High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP)

With the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), you pay the full negotiated cost for medical services and prescription drugs with the exception of preventive care which is covered at 100%, until you meet your annual deductible. If you are enrolled in the HDHP, you may be eligible to contribute tax-free dollars in a Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for eligible medical expenses. You choose when to use the money in your HSA account. It rolls over from year to year, allowing the balance to increase. Eligibility restrictions and contribution limits apply and are subject to change annually.

Eligibility for Benefits

Eligibility for DU benefit plans begins for both you and your eligible dependents on the first day of the month following your date of hire into an appointed position. If your hire date is the first of the month, your eligibility may begin on either your hire date or the first of the following month.

Eligible dependents include:

  • Your legal spouse (including common-law and civil union) or domestic partner (including same and opposite sex)
  • Your children up to 25 years of age (including natural or legally adopted children, stepchildren, the children of your domestic partner, and children who have been placed under your legal guardianship)
  • Your children over 25 years of age who otherwise satisfy the above definition and are mentally or physically incapable of earning a living and primarily supported by you

You can make changes to your benefits during the annual Open Enrollment period in May for an effective date of July 1, or within 30 days of an IRS qualifying event.
